The Brother CS6000i – Be Careful with Your Sewing Needles
by admin
When you buy a Brother CS6000i Computerized Sewing Machine it comes with a couple of spare needles. It is really easy for the home sewer to forget about looking after their needles.
We tend to change them periodically depending upon the type of fabric we are working with, but unless you have a good storage system it is really easy to confuse a normal needle with a ballpoint one, for example. Needles need to be stored correctly and checked each time they are put in to your machine. A bent needle can cause havoc.
It is important to make sure that you have the correct needle plate and presser foot according to the stitch you are using. With the Brother CS6000i, you are fortunate that the LCD screen will alert you to any errors in this regard. But if you don’t take heed, it is easy to break a needle.
Other causes of needle breakage are firstly, incorrect thread tension and secondly, rough handling of your fabric. It is important that you never pull or push your fabric through your stitching area any faster than the machine is working. Such behavior carries the risk of needle breakage amongst other things.
Needles are not expensive, but they will serve you well if you take care of them.
